Residents of the Skagit County region have stayed or moved here, due in part to the region's beauty and abundant natural resources. Yet, the community no longer takes pristine water, clean air, and abundant land for granted. Besides water quantity and quality measures, air quality is a traditional concern, not so much from human as from natural causes. Measures addressing these concerns are tracked in this category. So are indicators following energy, recycling and land use.
This category examines the size of some of these resources, their quality, and our use of them. It is the most difficult category of community life to capture numerically. A full definition of each indicator, as well as its relevance to Skagit County, can be found in the More Information section. The data themselves are available in a spreadsheet via the Download Data tab.
